Overview  /  About

The Company.

We own the platforms, we own the radar, and we own the sustainment tail. That is unusual in this industry — and it is the whole point.

Who We Are

An owner-operator in a business full of middlemen.

Most lighter-than-air work is brokered — one company designs, another builds, a third flies it and a fourth keeps it running. Every hand-off is a seam where schedule and accountability leak away. Skyship Services does all four. When a government customer calls, one company answers for the whole program.

Company Timeline

How we got here.

2011

Founded in Central Florida

Skyship Services, Inc. established to design, build and operate lighter-than-air systems.

2022

Lockheed Martin acquisition

Acquired approximately $1 billion in intellectual property and assets from Lockheed Martin — the hybrid airship and aerostat capability, and the engineering pedigree behind it. Awarded the DHS/CBP SPI operations contract the same year.

2023

Team ACES & the CBP TARS award

Formed the Team ACES consortium with QinetiQ US and won the $170M CBP TARS contract covering eight surveillance sites. Acquired the ABC Lightship inventory and IP — the A-60, A-150 and A-170 airframes.

2024

Army Aerostat Systems MATOC

Named to the U.S. Army's $4 billion multiple-award IDIQ vehicle for aerostat systems — positioning the company to compete for task orders across the Army's aerostat program.

2025

MDA SHIELD IDIQ

Awarded a contract under the Missile Defense Agency's Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense IDIQ, with a ceiling of $151 billion.

Leadership

The people who answer for it.

Decades of lighter-than-air, radar and program experience — including engineers who built these systems at Lockheed Martin before they built them here.
